Drupal Patterns

When I walked into a conference room near the World Trade Center in 2009 for my first Drupal meetup I didn't know much of anything about Drupal. I certainly wasn't expecting the generous welcome and collaborative community that I found! In the years that followed I discovered that was not unique to the Drupal community in New York City. I have learned so much from others both in person at camps and conferences, and through their blogs.

I recently learned that open source projects are examples of a gift economy. I love that way of understanding what we do in Drupal, the code I contribute, and the talks I have given at camps and conferences. This blog is a further gift to share what I am learning in between those times that we are together in person.

Shawn is a subsystem maintainer for Drupal core ajax. He is an active volunteer in the DruapalNYC community, serving as Chair of DrupalNYC Incorporated. He is married and has two adult daughters. He and his wife are proud residents of New York City. Outside of Drupal, Shawn is an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church. He enjoys computer gaming, carpentry, and fine woodworking.
